Truth of Film

Camera-led training. Stillness, restraint and the architecture of a believable take.

All our students receive requisite education in film acting technique as it gives insight not only into the world of film, but into the heart and soul of every human – the camera doesn’t lie.

Our advanced students also act/collaborate on short film projects and each year OGD-ARTS sponsors a professional short film to be submitted to film festivals, giving our students essential experience in the industry. Our advanced acting students not only act in film, but are given the opportunity to learn some of the mechanisms of filmmaking, a vital skill for actors.

This July OGD-ARTS will be shooting a short film The Tape - we are very excited to share this short film on our website shortly!

Coming in 2027 – Filmmaking & Directing Classes

Stage Craft Courage

Ensemble study in physicality and presence – students inhabit form before language.

Each year all students have the opportunity to perform in a theatre production - a chance to stretch their imagination, skill, courage, confidence & bonds.

As part of our advanced OGD-ARTS program students are also given the opportunity to perform in a choice of 2 semi-professional/professional productions. We aim to give students equal opportunity for key & support roles.

Our next semi-professional theatre production Full Stop is scheduled for late September 2026 – we will be announcing the theatre dates shortly! In 2027 OGD-ARTS Youth Theatre will proudly present DNA by Dennis Kelly.

Our 2027 big event production, scheduled for July, an exciting new work, will be announced early next year!.

Communication & Collaboration

A space where every voice is heard and valued.

Talking openly, being vulnerable, is the cornerstone of not only being a great actor, but a fulfilled human being. It is the reason why O’Grady Drama Adelaide and OGD-ARTS is committed to this practice.

We also believe, that in a world that can often feel disconnected truth, ensemble and authenticity create something rare: genuine belonging.

Contemporary Movement (dance for actors) – Coming in 2027!

Authentic Voice

A scaffolded practice for finding the body's natural resonance and its honest range.

Voice/ Singing classes coming in 2027!

We are currently working hard on developing our new program and can’t wait to share it with you in the new year.

Workshops and holiday programs

Learn to face challenges with creativity and forge deep social bonds.

For both the curious and the serious, our regular 3 or 4 day holiday programs are engaging, contemporary, cinematic, and fun, with two specialty streams to choose from: film or theatre. Students are able to create and collaborate on either a 1-2 minute short film or a short theatre piece that is presented at the end of the program. Our holiday programs are wild, fast, and rewarding, but they also allow time for some calm socialising - a key need for young people during holiday breaks.

Our holiday programs/workshops are open to the public (not just O’Grady Drama or OGD-ARTS students), giving all students across Adelaide an opportunity to discover their drama hearts.

Industry Alignment

Readiness for the rigour of a professional life

Our OGD-ARTS advanced acting program supports students in preparation to enter the professional industry – audition technique, monologue work, casting agents, working with directors, how to create a compelling showreel and more. Our advanced classes are specifically tailored to meet the more subtle individual needs of every student. It is also a class that focuses heavily on every student forging lifelong peer support.

The Art of Connection

Lasting bonds, built on safety. Performance grows from trust, not threat.

At OGD-ARTS we believe that true brilliance as a professional actor/artist, and human being, is from a foundation of psychological safety. Our ensemble-focused training in film, theatre, voice & movement prioritises authentic self-awareness, self-trust, and social connection. If students can trust their own creative choices, it is much easier for them to stay true to themselves, both professionally and personally.

Adelaide Roots

Cultivating Adelaide’s next generation of local, national, and international artists, leaders and contributors.

We guide students to feel confident connecting and sharing in the world.

OGD-ARTS is also dedicated to supporting the kid’s cancer community, with 1% of term fees going to the Childhood Cancer Association and The Play Therapy Department of the Michael Rice Ward (WCH) – the kids cancer ward.
